These two photographs represent the comparison when it comes to Depth of field. The top photo is in portrait mode. Portrait mode makes the photo have a kind of glow that makes the subject standout more and the background more blurry. It brings more life in to a photograph. On the other hand, the bottom photo is in landscape mode. Landscape mode makes the picture look dull. There's no life and nothing in that photo really stands out and catches any attention. The difference is that one mode makes a photo lifeless and the other one vivid.
